You may remember the Progress Report I did last year, while working on the Hollywood Hills home of Heidi and Joel, and their young son. I gave you a peek into what we were working on at the time, but never got around to showing you how it all turned out. So here goes....

Ain't she a beauty? I am obsessed with the cool color palette, and all the light that comes in from every direction. This living room is the center of their home. It needed to serve as their family/TV room, as well as the place where they entertain guests, and I think we managed to successfully achieve a place for both. We chose multi-functional pieces like those beautiful chairs, which look amazing in there, but also fully recline, making TV-watching super comfy.
BEFORE - The room used to feel very dark and heavy.
AFTER - Love. - photo by Heather Culp
Whenever I walk in there, I just want to sit down and take it all in. Heidi and Joel are a super fun-loving, modern, cool couple, and they love entertaining, so they definitely needed a home that they are proud of and excited to invite their friends into.
BEFORE - Bar
Bar After - this is what you see as you walk through the front door. The bar is so much more clean and open, and doesn't distract from the beautiful view. - photo by heather culp
This project is happening in phases, so while we finally have the majority of the work done, we are still lacking art (next on the horizon) and some other layers, like light fixtures and lamps. I wanted to get professional photos of all my L.A. projects done before moving up to Portland in August, so couldn't wait any longer. I'm trying to get back down there every couple of months, and I will definitely update this post with snapshots as we continue with the final touches.

I just love this dining room. The chairs (seen in my Dining Chair Round-Up) are beautiful and super comfortable, and the table comfortably accommodates eight people (we pull out two of the chairs most of the time, just to lighten up the space).
We have since added a hemp rug (shown below), which I love. The dark, natural fiber breaks up the brown of the floor and the chairs, and grounds the table. It compliments the wallpaper, without competing with it, and just softens the overall aesthetic. I'm really happy with it. There's also a modern, brass light fixture on it's way, which I'm super excited about.
Recent iphone shot after rug was installed.
This house has been one of my favorites to work on, mostly because of the people who inhabit it. Sometimes things just "click", and everybody's vision for the space aligns, making my job super fun.
Leaving Los Angeles was pretty hard, and I haven't sat down to write about it, but I will do so soon. In the meantime, I'm excited about the projects I've been a part of up in Portland, and look forward to sharing them with you when I can!
XO Anna
