I LOVE home design.
What's more fun than choosing colors, materials, furniture and objects to surround yourself with everyday? For me, not a whole lot. Which is why I love my job. My goal is always to make the design process as stress-free and fun as possible, and to create homes that make my clients happy.
My design aesthetic is timeless, yet modern. I am drawn to clean lines, but always add layers, to bring character to the space. I love to mix the old with the new and to incorporate textures, patterns and color in unexpected ways. I'm not so concerned with rules of design, but more concerned about the visceral reaction that happens when you walk into an awesome room.
I grew up just outside of Portland, graduated from University of Washington, then moved to Los Angeles. I spent the next twenty years there, and fell in love with design. I was lucky enough to be the original host of one of TV's first home makeover programs, While You Were Out. It was a total blast and got the ball rolling in my career. I started designing for friends, and then spent a couple of years honing my skills at Otis School of Design before starting Orange Drive Design. My husband, Joel, is a General Contractor, so we worked on a number of projects together, in addition to doing projects separately. I worked on everything ranging from one-room makeovers to entire home renovations, and loved every minute of it. I was inspired by the amazing design scene in Southern California, and was constantly finding new vendors and stores that helped me create special spaces for my clients. We recently relocated back up to the Portland area, and my company evolved to Anna West Interiors. I still spend a fair amount of time in Los Angeles, and love utilizing those connections to bring unique, fun design to my clients in the Pacific Northwest.
