How awesome are built-in breakfast nooks?? I don't have one, but I dream of having one in our next house because they're just the best! I envision our family sitting there, eating breakfast on Sunday mornings, while reading the paper or playing a game of Sorry. I know my kids would be really happy if there was a nice, padded bench under their booties during homework time instead of the metal chairs they currently sit on (don't get me wrong, I love my metal chairs, they're just not super c-c-cozy).

For me, this first one is built-in breakfast nook heaven. I could stare at it all day long. The fabric and thickness of the custom cushions, the size of the double-bench, the rattan bistro chairs, the substantial square, wood table, the David Hicks pendant, the gorgeous, metal windows...and don't even get me started on that floor. I'll go on for days. Just know that I have a major crush on it.
But I'm an equal-opportunity ogler. And I've got a lot of other great nooks to share with you:

You can't deny that these are beauties. Comfortable, chic, inviting...the white roman shades work really well in each, softening the windows and providing some control of the light.

All totally great in different ways, right? How about these colorful ones:

Now, I'm not trying to induce envy. Remember, I'm "without nook", too! But we can dream, can't we?

Some people take their desire into their own hands (or the hands of their designer), and just create a nook. There doesn't necessarily have to be a huge, beautiful bank of windows carved out:

Others forgo the "built-in" part, and just create the feeling using a settee or a custom-made bench:

I know. This last one tugs on my heart strings a little bit, too. It's just so beautiful! But maybe one day we can nook it up, too. In the meantime, I'm gonna keep showing you stuff that inspires me. So we're ready when the opportunity arises.
